The Return of the Grand Candy Review!

Here begins another account of the diverse chocolates, sweets, and candies that I have sampled over the past month of February! This is Post #2 of the Grand Candy Review!  Of course February is long gone, but I still buy some of these bars occasionally.  And the March edition will be completed very soon as well--including some promising contenders in the Gummy-Bear Gladiator category!

[[Again, a warning to all who continue reading this post:
Viewer discretion is advised. Reading this review may result in a desire to raid the cookie jars and the candy cabinets in your home for a sweet-tooth fix.  ]]

There are some really great contenders here!

February
Chocolate Challenger #6!
BUENO

The Bueno must be a favorite for every Nutella-Lover.  Two packs of bars were inside this package.  Each bar was more like four little bars connected by a chocolate perforation of sorts.  Each little capsule made of thin wafer is filled with a light, creamy hazelnut filling. It's almost as if it's not there, it's so smooth. It's flavor is recognizable, but each little piece is almost too fragile and small that it's not entirely as savory as it could be. Gone within seconds!  Rating: B+

Chocolate Challenger #7
BOUTNY

Just as it's name implies, this bar is truly a bounty or a bonus for those coo-coo for coconut! Like me.  It's like the American Almond Joy minus the almond.  Sounds rather boring.  And it is, but that is also the beauty in it.  It's like a little taste of paradise. And, as a graphic design major, I picked this bar up just like I pick a book off of the shelf: judging by it's cover.  Anyone can imaging a sense of sun, beaches, and  palm trees as they munch. Rating: A-

Look at this clever design! Yum.

Chocolate Challenger #8
LION
Fierce. This bar is one of the first to catch my eye every time I walk into a store--the only bar to fashion it's name as an animal-related metaphor for the confection inside the wrapper.  No fancy stuff here.  A stacked wafer covered in caramel, sprinkled with rice crisp cereal, and a chocolate covering to keep it all contained.  Quite good. Rating: B+

Chocolate Challenger #9
DOUBLE DECKER
Great name for this giant bar. Very literally like a double decker bus: first layer is crunchy, cripsies all mashed together.  Above that is the tick, fluffy, noughaty layer of goodness. It's quite the mouthful, and it lasts a while because of how much chocolate surrounds that as well. It's a good one to take slow and enjoy.  But it's just not my favorite. Too much separation of the flavors. I'll try it once more...maybe.  Rating: B

 Assorted Assailants #1
selected candies from the SWEET FACTORY

Background info:  The sweet factory is a kiosk found many places around Ireland, and has many containers filled with as many different types candies. So, I picked out as many unusual ones as I could, that still looked appetizing enough.  I picked out (click on the image to make it larger):
-Fizzy, sour pop gummies (surprisingly tasty with powerful flavor)
-Assorted chocolate beanies with chocolate (just like M&M's but with a little flavoring to each)
-Gummy Shapes: lips, fried egg, juice bottles, wine gummies (respectively, cherry deliciousness, oddly sweet and good, fruity and creamy, strong tasting of cough syrup)
-Strawberry & white chocolate mice (fake but addicting chocolate chunks)
-Boiled, dual flavored hard candies (rather tasteless and nothing like jolly ol' Jolly Ranchers)
-Chewy dolphin (unique, fresh flavor of something like blue-raspberry, so large took me three days to finish...got a gummy-ache)
-Silver coated hard sweets (vanilla mints with a hint of cinnamon almost, with REAL SILVER on the outside....nah, joking, but odd to eat)
Overall Rating: B+

Thanks for reading!
Any suggestions?
Also, tomorrow: NEW POST Coming soon on adventures around the great green island, Ireland! Cork, Limerick, Dungarvan, and a lovely Irish home (location to be kept mysterious).

I think i have to agree with Travis and say that the Bueno bars look the tastiest! I think that the Lion bar looks pretty good too, but I sure do love Nutella...
