In a previous post, I mentioned something about candy bars...food...yummy things. Well, this is the beginning of my
Grand Candy Review!
Viewer discretion is advised. Reading this review may result in a desire to make a trip to the nearest store to purchase chocolate-containing candy bars.
Once upon a time, years ago when I first traveled to Europe, I discovered the mint Aero Bar. This delicious, fresh and airy chocolate bar was bliss in a wrapper. I was hooked, and since then, I've only ever indulged in my favorite Aero Bar. (To learn all about the Aero bar: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aero_(chocolate))
But, it's time for an adventure! A dangerously sweet adventure. Moving away from the Aero bar, I've decided to give other candies on the shelf a chance to win my sweet tooth over. Thus, the Grand Candy Review! is born.
Objective:
Occasionally for the next 5 months, I will purchase European or Irish candy, kinds that I've never tried before, in attempt to find a confection that matches or challenges the smooth, savory Aero Bar.
Categories:
I will stick mainly to chocolate bars, but these are other contestant options.
Chocolate Challenger - any primarily chocolate, candy bar that may include other ingrediants
Gummy-bear Gladiator - any gelatin-based candy (as many people at home who know me, gummy-bears are an all-time favorite, so anything gummy will have to fight quite a battle to beat the bears)
Assorted Assailants - miscellaneous candies; individually wrapped or eaten-by-the-handful type sweets (compared to M&m's, Starburst, Tootsie Rolls, suckers, candy corn, etc.)

MILKY WAY - CRISPY ROLLS
This Milky Way is not the usual Milky Way that you'd find in the states. These are Crispy Rolls! Chocolate covered wafer rolls with a light cream filling in the center. I would recommend these if you like a quick, light chocolate snack. I really enjoyed these; I ate both rolls without realizing it! Rating: A- :)
Chocolate Challenger #2
WISPA

This purely chocolate bar is a copy-cat of the Aero Bar, except that the aeration of the chocolate is a lot more fine and the chocolate is more dense. It's a nice smooth milk chocolate, but the air bubbles were too small and it just didn't have the surprise-factor that the air bubbles in the Aero give. It just wasn't exciting to eat at all, so this might have been a one-time encounter. Rating: D+
Chocolate Challenger #3
MORO

The Moro Bar. This one was quite good...if you're a Twix lover like me. It's found only in Ireland, and is like a larger version of the Twix, but instead of the shortcake biscuit at the bottom, there are little chucks of biscuit in the nougaty center, which is surrounded by caramel, and then by chocolate. Full of surprises! Although, it is quite heavy duty for a chocolate bar, with lots of Energy content (aka calories). A decent contender. Rating: B
Chocolate Challenger #4
SNACK! (shortcake)

Snack! has been different than the other contestants so far, but in a good way. There were 6 of these square shortcake cookies in each package, each lightly dipped in a smooth milk chocolate. I enjoyed the individual cracker-like pieces in one package, yet the shortcake tasted a bit like graham cracker...not my favorite. But the chocolate made up for it--it was still a good snack...hah.

MARS BAR
The Mars chocolate bar is exactly like the US Milky Way (and different in the UK and Ireland than the US Mars bar which has almonds). Slightly sweeter, it's a layer of light, whipped chocolate underneath a layer of caramel, with an outer layer of chocolate. If you like Milky Ways, you'd like this one. But no surprises here, and too similar to a US chocolate bar......Rating: C-

Until next time, thanks for reading the Grand Candy Review!
--Decide you must have a candy I've reviewed? Email me and I'll buy one while I'm here and bring it back for you! (You'll have to wait until summertime to eat it...)
Looking for feedback! I've opened comments to everyone, not just blogger members. Thanks!

The Moro Bar and/or the Milky Way!!! They both sounded good and intriguing! The Moro Bar sound especially interesting to me, just because of all the different things put together so uniquely different from what I've tried before. You pick and surprise me! :D
